30 Years of Nordwell: Our Journey So Far
This year marks a special milestone for us – Nordwell is celebrating 30 years in business, and we wanted to take a moment to look back at how far we’ve come, especially given how much has changed in just the last couple of years.
Where it all started
We began in 1995 as a small, local fire extinguisher provider, covering businesses across Norfolk under the name 1st Class Fire Protection. From those early days, our focus has always stayed the same: building genuine, long-term relationships with the people we work with, and making sure every customer feels properly looked after.
Growing our services and our reach
In 2000, we expanded into fire alarms, risk assessments and emergency lighting, growing our services well beyond where we started. By 2010, we’d branched out into Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and by 2015, our team had doubled in size, supporting a client base of over 2,000 businesses.
In 2023, we passed a big milestone: a client portfolio of more than 4,000 sites across the UK relying on us for their fire protection.
The last two years: a new name, a new sector
2025 has been the biggest year of change yet. We relaunched as Nordwell Fire & Security, moving beyond our roots as a fire specialist to bring security services – CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and more – under the same roof for our customers. Alongside that, we opened our first Chelmsford Office, extending our reach to support businesses right across England.
Our new Chelmsford office is helping us serve customers across Essex and London, as our national coverage keeps growing.
If you’ve noticed us talking more about security recently, spotted the new name and branding, or seen a new office pop up nearer to you, that’s why – it’s all part of the same business you’ve always known, just doing more to look after you.
Looking ahead
Today, we’re proud to be supporting businesses right across the UK, with a growing team and a widening range of services – but the values we started with back in 1995 haven’t changed a bit.
