2) Testing & Compliance
We carry out the required checks — for example:
- Dry risers: six-monthly visual, annual pressure test.
- Wet risers: six-monthly visual plus annual pump/service/flow testing.
Following our inspection, we provide a detailed report. If the system passes, you receive a certificate of conformity. If issues are found, we supply a repair schedule and quotation.

How often should a dry riser system be tested?
Visual inspection every six months.
Annually, pressure test and visual inspection
Full report and BAFE Certificate of Conformity will be issued upon completion of both intervals
What height of building requires a riser system?
Dry risers are typically used where buildings both commercial or residential are above approximately 18 m and up to around 50 m in height.
Wet risers are used for taller buildings for both commercial or residential — typically over 50 m above fire-service access level.
What standards must the system meet?
Systems must meet the relevant requirements of BS 9990:2015 for dry and wet risers and be maintained by accredited providers.
What happens if my system is not compliant during one of your maintenance inspections?
Should any faults be found, we’ll issue a detailed report and quotation for repairs. We’ll also advise you of any temporary loss of operational status until the system is fully restored to compliance.
Your system may not be considered operational for fire-fighting use until all faults are resolved and works are completed.
